PC: Bug
Pretty sure, you would be worried for yourself and move mountains to be back in your normal form.
But as for Gregor, all he could worry about was his work, his boss and that he shouldn't be late for work.
The aftermath is even more troubling as Gregor is be seen worrying more about other people than his own well-being.
As days turn into month, family dynamics also change and readers get to observe the shift in his family's perspective regarding him.
PC: inksoupcomics
While everyone in the family was scared of him, his sister empathized with him but soon there was a remarkable shift in her behaviour.
His mother even though, was scared of his new form, her heart ached for her son.
As for his father, his behaviour towards him turned critical and and he found Gregor quite repulsive.
Gregor was a family person. He took care of his family members and adored his sister. He loved providing for them all.
He is seen thinking about the well-being and better future for his family even when his transformation has repulsed everybody.
Society has a knack of telling you clearly that once you cease to be useful, you can be forgotten and dealt with as time demands.
In a nutshell, this book is a metaphorical representation of the dynamics of society especially family.
The book depicts how people change their stance once it is clear to them that you might not be useful to them or simply become an added burden.
The tides change and no opportunity is missed to dispose you off.
Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis is a metaphorical satire on this very idea of society.
Happy Reading!
