BOOK REVIEW- CAT BOHANNON's Eve
PC : Book Cover
What has the author not talked about? She has talked about almost everything people would usually not even be able to think about in the least. That is the unique versatility, the author is bestowed with. That is the momentum of the book, the readers will find ineresting to keep on reading.
Here, we are looking at evolution, geography, physiology, biology, paleantology and what not. The best part I found myself often indulging in are the subscript notes that the author has included, describing nuances. They are written beautifully and very interestingly.

The whole book is not just a book of science of evolution but also that of inquisition and deep analysis of all the factors that are not visible to a naked eye. It asks the question of how we persuade ourselves to claim to study evolution by excluding the very part of population which is given the name of nurturers and life-bearing beings, females!
The author goes on to elaborate several examples to steer our attention towards details which are easily touted and forgotten as simple 'laws of nature' and that is how 'nature works' but are infact the very edifice of how life takes shape and without which, any living being would be in a sorry picture.

The book is not for a faint-hearted sexist! The book is not for anyone who is easily triggered at a mere reference of gender differences, either. To be noted, the book is not at all aimed at presenting gender bias discussion. However, it depends entirely on the readers how broad-minded they are to approach the facts presented. The versatile nature of the book is going to keep its readers in an ever-lasting awe and amused at finding such a wonderful book after so long! The book has it all that tickles inquisition and curiosity and caters to those who have that grit to look at facts and call a spade a spade. It effortlessly weeds out everyday casual sexism. It is also able to draw a faithful balance and discuss equity of nature and present its readers with limitless opportunities to delve deeper into the facts of science and nature that can easily fall in oblivion.

To me, the book bears the 'survival of the fittest, else expect to vanish in oblivion' kind of message.

There are easy to follow chapters with adept headings, each exploring and analysing the workings of nature. The nature, as is created and not as we want it to work for us.

You will definitely be reading a lot about fossil records of different species like Morganucudon, Protungulatum donnae, Purgatorius, Ardopithecus ramidus, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, Australopithecus afarensis, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo neanderthalensis and Homo sapiens.

All these are used to draw perfect comparisons, differences and to finally draw a conclusion on where the female forms stand in the bigger picture of life and I am directly quoting the aurthor here - ' how they shape what it means to be human'.
The author has really simplified the whole topic by dividing the book in several chapters so that the readers can easily discern each of them. These chapters have been written with great clarity and are going to demand your total awe and inspiration.
It would be a mistake to ignore this book. It boasts of being a New York Times Bestseller, Longlisted for Women's Prize Non-Fiction 2024, Foyle's Non-Fiction Book of the Year 2023, A Book of theYear for the Guardian, Telegraph, Prospect.
So, do not miss out!
Happy Reading!
