SAVE THOSE LOCKS...

What is more worrisome to you, those mistakenly dropped strands in your food or those tangled in your comb?
Well, both are equally frightening, including those which you see going down the drain in front of your eyes as you watch helplessly like a mute spectator.

Each one of us is fully aware of the horror of hair loss. The affect such a loss has on our psyche to that terror we feel at the dead of night thinking of solutions to stop the recession, err...the hair loss, has an immense impact on us. And, we got nothing but to pat our 'light-head' to sleep.

Gruesome sketch, right? But it is what it is! When we start losing hair and we no longer wake up to dreams of face and hands full of extra voluminous hair out of nowhere as we once used to, the terror depicted above stands valid.

What A Malady:

Hair is a natural resource. We are born with it. Those sitting on scalp are believed to be the most sought after and doted ones, the decorated ones. Like any other resource, hair also goes through depletion over time, causing one to feel bad and helpless.
Even though women stand behind in this race, they also witness and worry about it considerably.

How To Deal With It:
Well, when you can't do much about it, home remedies and medical treatments are the only escape. Some deal with it by accepting what their DNA has thrown at them.
Home remedies work alright for people who have minimal hair loss.

What We Have Heard:

From time immemorial, extensive home remedies have been accepted as the major tool to combat hair loss and other issues related to hair. But the question is - do they really work for everybody?

My childhood memory has been teary. Elders at home believed that even if my eyes burnt and went blind with that burning sensation, it was absolutely their right to slather Reetha (Soapnut) and  Shikakai (acacia concinna) on my head.
I do not have any data to support if this practice produces desired results for everybody. What I do know is that it requires immense grit to sit tight through the process.

What childhood memories do you have?

This brings me to an amazement whether those blood thirsty dwellers of hair jungle (head lice) are useful for hair growth. After all now that we observe since the time they have been endangered, hair loss has been on the rise.
Well, you know I am almost kidding by now.

How To Care:

Hair care is definitely of utmost importance, however you do it.
Well, genes do matter and so does self care.
Ever observed what a piece of paper lying around turns into in a few days! It starts to look dusty, yellowish and brittle.

When we leave hair unattended to and ungroomed, it starts to show signs of ageing even though it shouldn't.
It has the power to replenish on its own.

Dryness, split-ends and breakage are the worst symptoms.
I have heard people use several home-remedies like onion juice, oiling with natural oils like coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, henna to control the damage.

Wonder if Rapunzel ever lost her hair like us! Not only Rapunzel , I even envy that crooked, where-head-where-feet, body-cracking creature from 'The Ring'. No matter what, those long black strands are bound to make anyone jealous while being spooked at the same time.

Everybody is different and there is no one-size-one-trial treatment that can fit the bill.
What is more important is to regularly take care of your hair like washing regularly, drying them properly before tying, letting your hair sit loose in sun on some days, not overdoing with shampoo and conditioner, looking after them if there are signs of dryness by oiling or following prescribed medication.
Little steps do help!
