BOREDOM...

Boredom is an outcome of monotony. It is not the lack of something but the inability to bring in the change that can make us feel rejuvenated again.
Quite honestly, boredom is one of the major disorders of our lives and there is no cure as such except to drag our chained feet somehow.

Is it, really?

What Causes Boredom:

1. Disguised Discipline:

Nobody ever wants to feel bored and lethargic. But, we often tend to fall in the abyss, willingly or unwillingly. Yes, you read me correct. Willingly!

We do certain things in our daily routine that is outright outrageous for our happiness - like doing the same old chore in the same old manner at the same old time, daily, every single day - just like a robot, in the guise of discipline!

Come on, have we not heard?  "If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way." - Napolean Hill.

2. Living In A Rut:

The other day I was profusely bored. I mean I was literally talking to myself while munching on tiny morsels of food during dinner and thinking if only I had the ability to read tarot cards and lines on forehead or palms, I would solve the mystery of this misery.

Funny as it may sound but guess what, I was having the same kind of dinner I had the day before. Even though the food was cooked fresh, it did not have anything new added to it, depriving taste buds of some challenge.

Had I rummaged enough through my brain and at least added a different or new ingredient, the chances are I wouldn't have questioned my stars.

3. Expecting A Miracle:

We tend to expect good and great things to happen on their.
However, the secret ingredient for anything to happen on its own is some backend work.
Being our own backstage crew goes toward finding our likes, dislikes, hobbies and getting to know what we prefer to do when we are in our own company.

Dealing With Boredom:

1. Putting Your Needs First:

It is pretty much obvious we are not ourselves when boredom strikes.
While the boredom has its tentacles drawn at us, we cannot be much of a pleasant company to anyone, let alone ourselves!

It is imperative to give our mind a little pause and instead indulge in some self-pampering.
It could include things that make us relaxed, distant from everyday-routine or something new as a form of a learning process.

Even though, I have still to master my own boredom at times, I do have a few examples that can come of use.
I have tried painting, playing jigsaw puzzles, origami, reading about things that I know on surface but do not know in-depth and gratitude-journaling to name a few.

I will update the list in future when I come across more options.

2.Yeah and that is pretty much all - put yourself first!

  1. Whenever I am bored, I set some short term aim like learning, working out or meeting friends. Then I sleep so that I can work on my short term aim when I wake up.

  3. Boredom can lead to negative thoughts as well. I save myself from it by indulging more into things that can benefit my body, mind and spirit.
