MOTHERHOOD...
This is going to be a special shout-out to women who have stepped into the realm of motherhood in the era of Covid, 2020. A few of my friends have also bravely welcomed the Stork home with their bundle of joy.
Even though life must go on and Ithaca must wait before you have experienced the adventures of life and battled the demons, health should never take a back seat. Health must remain the focus, body being the temple.
Exercising and strength building are imperative to maintaining a sound mind and healthy heart.
PC: Joan Pagano's book - Strength Training for WomenNew mothers often find it difficult to care for themselves. A plethora of reasons come in the way. Some might not find enough strength to get up and exercise a little; some do not have enough helping hands; some are unable to devote time to care for themselves while tending to the tiny wiggly bundle of joy.
It definitely is and seems to be a herculean task. However, there are many ways for busy mothers to care for their health. Not to forget, good health is crucial for everybody, irrespective of gender and any life stage one is in.
Let us get straight into the numbers:
Understand - You can't help others unless you help yourself:
It is not about being self-centered. It is actually working for a greater good. The healthier you are, the better you get at caring for your little one.
Time/Routine:
It does not have to be a specific time everyday. The only thing you need is devoting 10 to 15 minutes of your day to exercising. Make sure you do not sleep without having given yourself some time.
Exercising does not have to be only about crunches and squats.
Since new mothers need to take it slow at first, they need to understand the don'ts.
Incorporating simple stretching, walking and focusing on posture are keys to managing better health.

Hydration:
Staying hydrated is crucial. It is important to keep drinking water close by rather than struggling to get up to fetch it each time.
Do not delay:
The more you delay, the longer it takes you to spring back.
This goes out to all of us. We plan so many things but they get sidelined because we somehow only focus our mind on achieving the results. We tend to abandon so many activities when results are not met as quickly as we expect.
Let us not forget what the famous poet, Cavafy said,
"Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you are destined for.
But do not hurry the journey at all."
Hoping each one of us gets to arrive at our Ithacas in good health and spirit!
Just wow!!! Needed this peck on my back. Already a mother of two ,still need this dose to revive myself up every now and then.
