Love - As Is known
Love is an emotion, no word, no emoticon and no one can define in its entirety. Since time immemorial, it has been at the pedestal of all feelings and people have described it in various ways. All kinds of discourse hold their grounds to be correct and apt.
Love is depicted and imagined to exist in different forms and degrees like romantic love, love between parents and children, topped by the kindest and most purest of a mother's love, love for humanity as a whole, love between friends, love between siblings and so on.
Ponder over:
My question to you to ponder over is, does love really have a 'kind' or does love really need to be based on a particular type of relation?
Isn't love a mystery?
Philosophers, thinkers and lay men have brainstormed and come up with a variety of description, yet it seems like we do not understand what love really is.
Various Forms:
While love has been defined as a very strong feeling of affection, encompassing everything positive, it has also been used as a reference to painful and heart-wrenching experience by philosophers and poets. They have described a person in love as a lost soul, mostly in connection with romantic love and as a symbol of sacrifice in connection with motherly love. Sometimes, love of a baby or child towards parents, specifically mother has also been epitomized as something very unique. We have probably seen and heard of cases where a new born falls sick when it has been abandoned or its mother could not survive to live. Even though all of this points towards dependence, it is very much more like a strong connection where there is suffering and loss in its absence.
In a nut shell, love is a defining source which keeps the balance within us. In its presence, we excel. In its absence, there is loss and suffering.
Love Vs. Needs:
But then we come to choose what is more important, love or survival. It is a fact that basic thing needed for survival is food, followed by clothes and shelter.
However, affection still plays a vital role in the outlook towards life.
Self-Love:
One of the most talked about but probably the least explored aspects is self-love. Simply put, self-love is taking care of oneself, especially health and emotional well-being. Quite honestly, nobody understands you better than yourself. Sometimes, we ignore our own well-being in order to not hurt other people, in turn becoming people pleaser. Even though, being empathetic and being gentle are positive traits but sometimes caring for yourself is more important. This does not mean, we cease to be nice to people. Ultimately, it all comes down to clarity of communication.
Conclusion:
It is not quite possible to measure thoughts and feelings. It is also not quite possible to read and interpret in mathematical terms, what goes in someone's brain. We sure have technological advancement to study brain, but most probably can not really READ mind.
Love will always enjoy the stature of mystery.🙇
