This is an ongoing daily war between your eyes and brain activity. To sleep or to not let sleep, insomnia in medical terms and sleep deprivation in common language.
What is Insomnia:
An everyday battle with falling asleep is insomnia. The ability to enjoy a sound sleep is hampered, affecting productivity and health.
Major factors affecting sleep are spending time over screen and stress. A little local survey revealed that even though people experience stress on and off, it still affects them a lot. Screen time, especially browsing aimlessly on smart phones is a factor people do out of habit.
Why is Insomnia Debilitating:
What makes lack of sleep harmful is that it makes us cranky and sluggish. It also makes us less attentive at work. This calls for caffeine intake more than it is required. Sleep-deprived body gets fatigued easily.
What Helps You Fall Asleep:
A small survey highlighted a few factors that play important role in helping people fall asleep. Enjoying a good music tops the chart, followed by self talk. It turns out, most people have never tried meditation.
What To Do:
It is of utmost importance to change our bad habits which come in the way of falling asleep. You are the best to judge yourself and come up with a plan. There is a dire need to manage stress so that it does not cripple our sleep. Meditation is a great activity and should be explored to reap benefits.
Conclusion:
Sleep is nature's nurse. It nurses us to rejuvenate back to strength and agility after a long haul during any given day.
Taking it for granted and running yourself out of rest time can impact health in the long run. Its effects during the day are disturbing, including sore eyes, fatigue and low concentration.
We ought to make sure, we give ourselves enough rest by sleeping well. We ought to adjust our habits to synchronize sleeping pattern back to normal. Remember your yesteryears when sleeping well was not an issue.
'O sleep, O gentle sleep, Nature's soft nurse, how have I frightened thee.
That thou no more will weigh my eyelids down, And steep my senses in forgetfulness?' - Shakespeare.
